The Confessions of Frannie Langton

Book: The confessions of Fannie Langton
Author: Sara Collins
Genra: Fiction

This is an extraordinary book, written in the first person by a young slave brought to London by her master and put into service by him in a friend’s home. She falls in love with her new mistress and is treated very thoughtlessly.

The book starts with her being accused of murder and this novel is Frannies’s written account of her life leading up to this event.

If you can cope with mistreatment of slaves, incest, human dissection, drug addiction, prostitution and twisted 19th century morals then it’s for you!

Having said that, it is an amazing piece of writing. It’s written in such a way that you can fully believe that you’re inside this young slave girl’s head and understand why she made the choices she did.
