Whickham Volunteer Library Association
This policy explains what information we collect about you and how we use it.
What information do we collect?
We collect personal data about you when you join the library. This consists of name, postal address, email address, phone number, mobile phone number and date of birth. We retain records of any books, CDs, or DVDs you have borrowed, and any payments made. If you use our computers, we retain recent logs of your computer usage, although we do not routinely check these.
We will not share this information with anyone.
How will we use this information about you?
We use this to keep records of how many items are borrowed, which age group use most and where our customers live. Your age group may also entitle you to a concessionary payment rate.
We may write, email or text you if an item is overdue and accruing fines or if there is a change to our terms and conditions. We will email you to remind you when items are almost due for return. We will contact you by phone, text, or email when a reservation is ready for collection.
If you would like us to email you with details of forthcoming events, please let us know and we will keep your email address for this purpose. You have the right to request us to stop sending you emails for this purpose at any time.
Access to your information and correction
You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. Please ask a member of staff should you require this service.
We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
