HOT NEWS
BOOK RETURN & COLLECTION SERVICE STARTS MONDAY 6th JULY 2020
Following recent clarification from the Government and Gateshead Council Library Services on the guidelines regarding Coronavirus, the trustees of the library now feel we are able to offer book returns and collection service.

This will start on Monday, 6th July. The library will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 12noon for returns and collections only.

We are sure you will be raring to exchange books and, as this is a first for us too, we ask for your patience and support during this time.

In order to protect both our borrowers and volunteers, the following rules will apply:

          • No more than 3 books to be issued per borrower.
          • Our volunteers will try to fulfil each request and these books will be put in a paper bag with the borrowers name and then quarantined for 72 hours before pick up. The volunteers will contact the borrower.
          • Borrowers may then come to return and collect their books but only one person is allowed in the lobby at any time.
          • There will also be a box for returned books which will again be quarantined for 72 hours before being placed back on the shelves.
          • There is currently no public access to the main library areas.

Borrowers can call the library on 0191 433 6424 between 10am and 12 noon on the days we are open or, alternatively, email the library at whickhamlibrary@gateshead.gov.uk

You can search by author or title to find out the availability of books.

For those with no internet access, there will be paper slips in the lobby for you to complete when requesting books.

All fines and reservation fees are being waived during this phase.

We will continue to monitor the latest advice from Gateshead Library service and bring further updates when necessary.

Thank you for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you at the library.
